Kelly flys high in the Motueka Prius Challenge
Meet Kelly Barclay, our youngest competitor and now on top of the list at the Motueka stage of the Prius Challenge!
Kelly is a pilot from Motueka and really enjoyed driving this little 'green machine'. He is looking forward to the moment that they are going to use similar techniques in his own industry.
For him this first introduction to hybrid automotive technology and the "prius driving style" definitely left him wanting more.
By the way, his secret: slightly use his brake pedal now and then while driving to give some extra power to the batteries. The Prius hybrid engine system has a regenerative energy recovery system, when the brakes are used, power is fed from this action to recharge the batteries to be used to drive the electric engine. Braking whilst driving creates energy thus recharges the batteries.
