Prius V - Power to the People. A new way to move all your eco warriors!

2015-toyota-prius-v-hero2

The Prius V is a game changer.
It is a large 7 seater car that is also a hybrid.
It is the best of both worlds: big on space, small on fuel.

In a world where every day passenger cars seem to be getting smaller and lighter to become more fuel efficient, the compromise is often on space. The ability to move you, your troops, and all of their gear around can become a costly affair if you make the wrong decision and get the wrong vehicle for the job.

If you are looking for a spacious 7 seater car equipped with all of the latest technology for around town then the Prius V is one car you need to consider. The Hybrid system is very, very fuel efficient with a combined fuel use rating (around town and highway use) of just 4.1L/100km!

The Prius v is packed with functionality that makes it a truly practical hybrid vehicle. Practical to run and practical to own, with excellent fuel efficiency and driver-friendly technology that makes it as comfortable for an open road journey as it is easy to park in the city.

Versatility meets hybrid technology.

2015-toyota-prius-v-tech1

All new Prius V brings together class-leading versatility and hybrid technology to create the newest 7 seater hybrid available in New Zealand. It’s a Prius with even more possibilities. While only marginally longer than the Prius Hatch, it can readily seat seven, or accommodate loads more cargo while still delivering outstanding fuel economy. Prius V is the ideal solution for growing families juggling budgets, and businesses wanting a vehicle that is as sustainable as it is practical.

The technology on board the Prius v is both impressive and innovative. Beginning with a smart key entry and start system, you’ll also find Bluetooth handsfree phone and audio streaming capability, voice recognition, auxiliary and USB jacks and a CD tuner, all as part of a premium JBL eight speaker stereo system with GreenEdge amplifier.

There’s a handy reversing camera display to assist with parking manoeuvres and an integrated satellite navigation system with SUNA Traffic Channel functionality, all viewable through a high contrast 6.1” VGA touchscreen display.

A Head Up Display system, showing the driver speed as well as navigational indicators when the satellite navigation system is in use, is also included.

The feature-rich steering wheel contains handy controls for the audio system, cruise control, telephone functions, voice recognition software and four-way Multi-Information Display screen.

This may be a practical wagon but it is still very much a Prius with progressive styling that embraces new benchmarks for aerodynamic performance and efficiency.

Multiple Seating options for up to 7 eco warriors!

New Prius V can be what you want it to be. Whether it’s taking the team to Saturday morning sport, or moving a mountain of camping gear the 2+3+2 seating configuration with split folds gives you more options.

With the rear 3rd row seats folded down you’ll have a huge 505 litres of load space, and if you want more, the second row seats also fold away to provide a huge 1,850 litre litres to load up. It doesn't stop there. A 60 litre underfloor storage compartment is also provided, along with places to stow things in the side compartments, the glove box and centre console.

Settle in to the supportive seating and it becomes obvious that plenty of attention has been paid to driver and passenger comfort. The high quality of trim, upholstery and instrumentation layout all combine to enhance the Prius v driving experience. The i-Tech provides the additional luxury of leather-like seating with front seat heaters.

Hybrid Synergy Drive. Responsive yet responsible. Efficient yet powerful

In both Power and Eco modes the new Prius v ride is quiet and comfortable. An advanced 1.8 litre petrol engine petrol and proven electric motor work in harmony to effortlessly combine remarkable fuel efficiency with uncompromising performance. The technology recycles the energy normally lost when you slow down or brake, storing it in a compact, next generation advanced Lithium Ion battery. Power is then released again to boost performance when required. A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) ensures the ride is smoothly suited to New Zealand driving conditions, helping achieve low emissions and ultra-low fuel consumption of 4.4L/100km (combined * *Based on ECE 101/01 combined cycle).

Toyota’s well proven Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) is a full hybrid system. It includes a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor powered by a Lithium Ion battery. This is matched to perform in perfect harmony with a petrol-driven combustion engine. Both the petrol and the electric motors in the engine management system can power the car alone or in combination allowing Prius drivers to enjoy responsive power with low emissions and ultra-low fuel consumption.

Engine – Combining efficiency with performance

The new Prius v features a 1.8L, 4 cylinder, In-line, 16 valve Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) petrol engine with Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI).

  • Maximum power – Petrol engine – 73kW at 5200rpm
  • Maximum torque – Petrol engine – 142Nm at 4000rpm
  • Combined system output (petrol engine and battery) – 100kW
  • Fuel consumption – 4.4L/100km (combined ADR 81/02)
  • CO2 emissions – 101g/km (combined ADR 79/04)
  • Exhaust emission standard – Euro 5
  • Drive type – Front-wheel drive
  • Fuel - 45L tank capacity. 91 octane is recommended.

Transmission

In both Power and ECO modes Prius v delivers a quiet comfortable ride that’s also very responsive. ECO mode helps maximise fuel economy and Power mode increases accelerator pedal sensitivity for additional get-up-and-go.

  • Electronic Continuously Variable automatic Transmission (ECVT)
  • Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD)
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) mode

Safety is a Prius priority.

As you’d expect the Prius v sets high standards for safety with an impressive array of active and passive safety features.

The 5 Star ANCAP safety rated Prius v features a comprehensive suite of systems designed to keep the car on a stable footing in tight corners, heavy traffic, or where road conditions become hazardous, including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC), which work to keep the car on an even footing.

Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) , Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) all help to slow the vehicle in an even, predictable manner, especially under heavy braking. Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), meanwhile, makes starting off on an incline that much safer by automatically ‘holding’ the vehicle in place for a moment to allow the driver to move off without unintentionally coasting backwards.

  • Airbags – Driver and passenger front, front side, front and rear curtain shield and driver’s knee
  • Child seat fixing points, 3 tether anchors and 2 ISO fixings, childproof rear door locks
  • Engine immobiliser
  • Front seat belts – Pre-tensioners and force limiters
  • Rear seat belts – Three-point, 2nd row Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) , 3rd Row ELR
  • Smart entry with driver's, front passenger door and boot touch sensors
  • Reversing camera with static backing guide lines
