The Toyota Synergy Drive system is now in it's 3rd generation. This revolutionary system is a world leader, and the synergy drive system is making it's way into more and more Toyota and Lexus models.
Well known for its clever technology and ease of use, it is full of ground breaking innovations so easy to use that you will more than likely never be aware that they are there. The Toyota Synergy Drive system is an electric engine that works either independently or in conjunction with the petrol engine. It is a very smart system, and very different from other hybrids that just support the traditional petrol combustion engine. Toyota has been mastering Hybrid technology since 1965, with the 1st generation Prius released in 1997. Since then Hybrid technology has come a long way within the Toyota development, and is in an ever increasing range of models. If you wish you can currently enjoy the Hybrid Synergy Drive System in the Prius family of cars, as well as the Toyota Camry, the Lexus CT200h, and the Lexus RX450h. Overseas Toyota has released hybrid varients of the Yaris and the Corolla, with more models to come.

The Prius Plug In is well along the path of development, and has been rolled out into showrooms recently in Britain, so we could expect to see it in our showrooms in the not too distant future.
The difference with this Prius model is the much larger battery, and the ability to both hold more charge and deliver more power for longer.
The next stage may be a fully electric version, or perhaps a hydrogen varient. One thing you can be sure of is that Toyota have been thinking, researching and developing the future of motoring for many years, and will continue to be a global market leader in the realms of hybrid or alternative energy systems.
