Bowater Hyundai celebrates the Nelson and the Cricket World Cup

The 2015 Hyundai sponsored ICC Cricket World Cup is coming to Nelson next year, and to celebrate that it is just 111 days away, the Nelson City Council and Bowater Hyundai got together and planned a way to get excited, and raise some awareness, for this world class event happening in our backyard this summer.

The Nelson City Council has placed the official Cricket World Cup Display Ball and Countdown timer in the front window of the Bowater Hyundai showroom. The Bowater Hyundai team are pretty excited about this and all got in on the act when asked to get together to celebrate the 111 days to go, with an impromtu application of one of crickets least understood traditions, the Nelson!

The explaination is best left to an expert!
Check out the video that the NCC made of the day, including the stop off at Bowater Hyundai.

Bowater Hyundai CEO, Chris Bowater, was very positive about the chance to see some world class cricket in our town this summer, and to get Nelson onto the world stage and in front of a strong global audience. Cricket is a huge sport internationally, with a dedicated and passionate following, so to be able to be involved is an absolute bonus, especially in the middle of an always glorious late Nelson summer!

Hyundai are a global sponsor of the competition, and Hyundai NZ are placing a lot of energy into making sure that the tournament is as great as it can be. On a local level Nelson is lucky enough to be hosting 3 games as a part of the 2015 ICC World Cup at the brilliant Saxton Oval.

On Monday February 15th the West Indies will take on Ireland, which will be quite a treat for all local cricket lovers.

Thursday February 19th sees Zimbabwe vs United Arab Emirates with the third match happening on Thursday March 5th, with Bangladesh vs Scotland.

Get in behind the tournament, plan for some world class summer time cricket, and win free stuff!

To celebrate the countdown to the 2015 Cricket World Cup we are inviting everyone to head down to Bowater Hyundai on the corner of Rutherford and Hardy Street, opposite MacDonalds and next door to Z Rutherford.

Take the opportunity to sign the "ball" (- please don't actually sign the ball, sign the stand that the ball is displayed on -), take a photo of yourself and upload it to our Bowater Motor Group Facebook Page <click here> and go into the draw for free Hyundai merchandise. "LIKE" our Facebook as well and double your chances!

We will also have a competition running on a clipboard for those that aren't on Facebook to make sure that no one misses out on the chance for FREE Stuff!

That is quite an achievement we in the media department are super impressed with, and a huge amount of international exposure for a bunch from Nelson!

Meet the Bowater Hyundai Team

James Duncan. Very good at horsing around....

2015-isuzu-james500xOur Sales Team Leader James has been with Bowater Hyundai & Isuzu since early in 2014, having come through the industry since his first job as a vehicle groomer back in 2002. Over that time he has certainly seen technology change, and is able to point you in the right direction with matching you up with the vehicle that will best suit your needs. He has his finger on the pulse and knows how to take control of the reigns!

Born and bred in Nelson, James grew up in Wakefield and attended Waimea College. He has kept true to his country roots, having competitively ridden horses since he was 5. He now competes on a national level, often travelling to events such as the Horse of the Year with his horse and his executive horse float. Got a question about towing a horse float - James is your man! He has towed more horse floats in his time than most, and has got the full run down on towing statistics.
