Bowater Hyundai is proud to be a driving force behind the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup games in Nelson.
Nelson City Council Deputy Mayor Paul Matheson and Bowater Hyundai CEO Chis Bowater with the NCC's new Hyundai i20.
The ICC Cricket World Cup is one of the world's largest, and most watched global sports events. Quite frankly it is massive, and a massive honour for Nelson to be involved in it, let alone host teams and have 3 games to go and see. Set aside some time now people - this is a great opportunity to see actual world class cricket in our own backyard!
Hyundai internationally are a global partner with the International Cricket Council (The I.C.C.), as well as the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, so naturally this means that the team at Bowater Hyundai have the opportunity to be involved as well. We are very proud to be working together and partnered with the Nelson City Council on this event as it is going to bring so much attention in to our region. Watch this space as we get closer to the tournament, we have some exciting plans tucked away to wow you all with.
The Nelson City Council are very excited about the upcoming tournament as it gives them a chance to showcase the region to a huge global audience during our traditional blisteringly hot, clear and calm February days - the chance to show everyone what a great place Nelson and Tasman are to live in, as well as to visit on holiday!
As a part of the partnership we are working with, we recently had the opportunity to present the Nelson City Council representative, Deputy Mayor Paul Matheson, with the council's new signwritten Hyundai i20 in our central Nelson showroom on the corner of Rutherford and Hardy Streets.
The vehicle is to join their fleet and primarly be used by their community services group manager. They chose the Hyundai i20 GL for it's great mix of fuel efficiency and safety features.
The new Bowater Hyundai showroom (right beside the Z station on Rutherford, and opposite McDonald's) is the perfect place to be displaying the very large, and very impressive ICC Cricket World Cup Countdown clock, and similarly large replica cricket ball.
Chris and Paul checking to make sure that each other has signed the Giant ICC World Cup Cricket Ball's platform.
Take the opportunity to sign the "ball" (- please don't actually sign the ball, sign the stand that the ball is displayed on -), take a photo of yourself and upload it to our Bowater Motor Group Facebook Page <click here> and go into the draw for free Hyundai merchandise. "LIKE" our Facebook as well and double your chances!
We will also have a competition running on a clipboard for those that aren't on Facebook to make sure that no one misses out on the chance for FREE Stuff!
This is exciting news, and some of the team at Bowater Hyundai have even been rumoured to have been practising their cricket skills in the showroom after work hours with a soft bat and ball to get into the swing of things! There is potential here we think for a great summer of activities, and perhaps a teaser of some fun things to come at the Bowater Hyundai showroom!
Time to get excited about cricket again. We think so!
The ICC Cricket World Cup is the flagship event of the international cricket calendar and takes place every four years, with matches contested in a 50-over format.
The 2015 edition will be the 11th of the tournament and will be jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia. The two countries previously combined in 1992 to jointly host the tournament. The same format will be in place this time, with matches held in both countries. The tournament gets underway on Feb 14th, with the final set to be played in Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday March 29th.
We all need to get behind this tournament and get involved. Here are some interesting stats:
- One of the world’s largest international sports tournaments
- 14 competing teams
- Engaging one fifth of the world’s population
- Expected television audience of more than a billion people
- More than 400 accredited players and officials
