Sheryl takes the CRV to Golden Bay for an action packed weekend!

When it comes to knowing the product you are selling what better way to describe a vehicle's actual real world performance than to personally experience it.
Bowater Honda's new salesperson Sheryl Wearing discusses her recent trip over to Golden Bay for a weekend away, and shares some beautiful photos of a stunning part of the country, made all the more accessible by the "up for anything" Honda CRV.

The CRV in Golden Bay

"The opportunity to drive the 2013 4WD 2.4N Honda Sport CR-V to Golden Bay was ideal particularly as getting to Cape Farewell Horse Treks included both sealed & gravel roads, the steep Takaka hill plus several long straights. As a woman used to smaller around town cars rather than bigger 4WD SUV's I was initially a little nervous, but this was quickly eased once inside the comfortable and beautifully laid out car.

I was pleasantly surprised how the CRV (Comfortable Recreational Vehicle) didn't feel nearly as big to drive as it looked - driver comfort was fantastic, from the leather seats electrically adjustable in every way (heated if required!) to auto-sensor lights & wipers to the independently climate controlled air-conditioning for both front seat passengers to "Smart Entry' push-button start to the accommodating abundance of coffee cup holders! So many gadgets!

I certainly felt confident & safe driving the CRV for a few reasons such as knowing there were extensive airbags both front & sides, superior intelligent braking & stability control systems & the reassuring reversing camera display.
As a family vehicle the CRV has great features such as the back seats foldable with the click of a button (much appreciated when balancing shopping or children), many family seatbelt options plus a walk-through back seat floor.

As much as I enjoyed the bells & whistles of the CRV, at the top of mind was the impressive road handling. Cornering on the open roads with ease & such comfort while driving an unfamiliar route gives confidence, as does handling that is by no means impeded by the CRV's height and generous interior head room. The comprehensive inbuilt Navigation system wasn't required but was easy to operate and made tracking the journey fun and was handy in the event we needed to go some unexpected!

The fuel economy is listed in the brochures as the "optimal NZ test drive" is 7L/100kms, and we achieved around this mark on average. I felt the 2.4L engine had enough get up & go when required & was so quiet on the open road, and the vehicle was easy to get in / out of, as well as roomy enough for a weekend's worth of luggage. Coupled this with a full 3 year unlimited kms warranty... I'm happy & would fully recommend!
Now there's the 4WD 2.4NT Sport CRV with even more technology to try!

The Honda CRV starts from $34,990 for the CRV S manual. The CRV Sport N model pictured that Sheryl drove starts at $51,700.
