The Bowater Motor Group is very proud of it's employees. Everyone is treated as part of the family, and as such it is important for everyone that works at Bowaters to be able to achieve their full potential. When someone shows interest in taking on more responsibility and upskilling themselves, management at Bowaters take notice, and work hard to make it happen.
This week we enjoyed yet another proud moment behind the scenes of the Bowater Motor Group, as Emma King-Turner, our parts advisor from Bowater Toyota received her National Certificate in Business.
Emma has invested a considerable amount of her "free time" into achieving this qualification, as well as gaining the support of management at Bowater Toyota to enable her to attend the work time courses at MITO (Motor Industry Training Organisation) over the year she has been studying.
Emma has worked extremely hard to get this National Certificate in Business (First Line Management - Level 4) through MITO (Motor Industry Training Organisation). She could not speak highly enough of her tutor Mark Potter from Artisan Consulting for conducting a very informative and fun course, punctuated with interesting "real world" challenges realised through techniques such as role playing. She met some great people on the course with just 11 other students, making it an intensive learning environment.
This NZQA recognised certification is the culmination of a years hard work, both here at Bowater Toyota, and also in her own time, with hours and hours of home work for Emma. However seeing her so proudly receiving her certificate from her department manager Kieron Reilly and Bowater Toyota CEO Tony Bowater we can assume it has all been very worth it.
The Bowater Motor Group actively support our staff to up skill themselves at every opportunity, and in Emma's case the benefits from her Certificate in Business have been put to good use from the moment she began study. This is all part of the in work self education policy we have as we believe it enables us to deliver more to our customers, and this investment into educating our front line staff in management training will benefit both them and the group now and in the future.
The course covered a wide subject base of all things business, from business strategy through to front line customer interface techniques, commercial agreement negotiations, dispute resolution and staff management. All of these skills will help us, and also Emma, as she continues to do a great job as parts advisor here at Bowater Toyota in Nelson.
This new qualification for Emma adds another dimension to the already skilled Parts Department at Bowater Toyota.
When it comes to repairing your vehicle, or you need to source specialist or Toyota Genuine parts, this hard working and knowledgeable team are the people to contact. They have all of the tricks, and certainly know their way around the "system" so can sometimes find parts others cannot supply.
