There are a few sporting events that capture the collective imagination and attention of the country every once in a while. One of those is the America's Cup.
It is an event that has been a part of the national psyche since the Fremantle races back in 1987. This regatta is the first to feature this high level of technology. It is a mixture of stealth bomber and formula 1 technology all bundled up and let loose on the unpredictable sea. Some of the aspects of these boats are amazing, and have to be seen to be appreciated. The history of NZ's involvement with the America's Cup.
