In the last week of November a casual stroll around the Richmond Mall whilst his wife shopped has certainly been a propertunity worth it's weight in crisps for local man Steve Phipps of Richmond.
Steve correctly guessed the number of Proper Crisp packets packed perfectly into the brand new Toyota Prado. And by correctly he guessed the actual number, 736.
Many came within 5 bags, and given the thousands of entries we had over the week it was fantastic to have a clear and absolute winner!. A Proper winner if you will.
For Steve's trouble he has won a month's supply of Proper Crisps, and a couple of car grooms from the team at Bowater Toyota to get all those crisp crumbs out of the back seats once the grandkids have been in the car munching on Proper Crisps over the holidays.
Steve has been a boat builder at Diverse Engineering for over 40 years, so knows a thing or two about making things properly. Ned and Mina Smith from Proper Crisps also believe in doing things properly and with passion, and were excited to be able to give away some cases of their natural, wholesome and properly made traditional potato crisps.
Proper Crisps are made the old fashioned way, batched fried using actual fresh vegetable oil (not palm oil like most other crisp manufacturers) and without the need for a whole lists of numbers on the back of the packet to make them taste nice!
We took a visit to the Proper Crisps factory in Stoke recently and were amazed at how simple the process was, and how amazing these little critters taste fresh out of the cooker! Now that is a special treat.
Steve on the other hand won't get the chance to taste them straight from the vat (unless he asks Ned & Mina very nicely), but instead will get a nice supply to share with his family over the course of the holidays. He reckons his grandkids are going to be super excited and very happy to discover the loot in the pantry - what kid wouldn't! infact what adult wouldn't as well - these crisps are properly awesome!
The other part to this proper promotion was the chance to properly get a look at the new 2014 Toyota Landcruiser Prado. This new rejuvenation of a kiwi favourite has seen the addition of a whole swag of extra technology to help make life a little easier, and safer.
In addition to Prado's highly competent four wheel drive system (which features a TORSEN ® type LSD centre differential with centre differential lock, Hill-start Assist Control, Downhill Assist Control and Active Traction Control as standard), further upgrades are also included on the Prado VX and Prado VX Limited models.
While VX-grade vehicles benefit from the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which aids performance both on and off road, Prado VX Limited adds rear air suspension, Adaptive Variable Suspension, Multi-Terrain ABS, an electronic rear differential lock, Multi-Terrain Select and CRAWL Control.
Reinforcing Prado's traditional mix of on and off road performance with practical safety, the 2014 model also introduces TrailerSway Control Software, which assists the driver in retaining control if the system senses a dangerous situation occurring when towing!
