From Germany to the Sanctuary of Nelson
The Brook Sanctuary intern Julia Teufel at work in the new Campaign Office at Bowater Honda on Rutherford Street whilst the A-Team from The Signman apply new images to Hudson's office space.
Julia has swapped her northern hemisphere spring for a taste of Nelson in the autumn, but couldn't be happier.
She has travelled here to be the new Brook Sanctuary intern, and 3 weeks into it she has already found her feet and integrated into the hard working core Brook Sanctuary team.
Julia is from Germany and passionate about conservation.
She is undertaking an internship in Business Administration and working with the Brook Sanctuary she has the benefits of supporting the marketing and admin teams, but also getting to do a whole lot of "on the ground" activities at the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary as well.
It is this she finds very rewarding. The variety of activities from day to day keeps her on her toes, and makes for a very exciting work environment. Each day is generally a very different list of tasks, from creating a mail merge and stamping invitations to the up coming "Get behind the Fence" launch at Bowater Honda on Friday the 3rd of May, to attending the Nelson Saturday Market with the Sanctuary's project co-ordinator Rick Field and staffing the stall they have set up there to let people know about the project and how they can be a part of it.
The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary is an exciting place to do your internship. If you are interested it this perhaps send them an email to make enquiries.
Julia is here until the 1st June, so by the end of her stay here she will have quite a familiarity of the project, those volunteers working alongside the core Sanctuary team and a lot of the actual tracks and paths within the Sanctuary bounds.
