Movember. Getting hairy to care about men's health.
Every year a handful of guys from the 75 strong staff down at Bowater's has a crack at Movember. The opportunity to grow some ridiculous facial hair that is not part of their everyday "normal" look is too good to pass up it seems.
For the last couple of years we have decided to make it all official and get involved in Movember properly, with a proper Movember account and everything! This means that more of us are doing it this year than ever. It is such a good cause that we feel that the entire Bowaters Team can take the matter seriously and do it properly which means some fund raising and moustache growing for a good cause.
Follow our journey by checking back at this section as we will keep a track of the Bowater's Mo Bro's as they develop and cultivate their moustaches. Please take a couple of minutes to visit our official Movember page (click here) and make a donation to us - we will appreciate it and feel that all of the itchiness and scornful looks from our wives and partners will be worth it!
Scroll right down to the bottom of this page to see the beginnings, the latest photos are right here at the top. Haven't they all done well! Appreciate then go and donate! Afterall that this the whole point to all of this - we are in it to raise money AND awareness for a cause near and dear to us - the health of MANkind! Remember folks - the whole point of this is to raise cash - so help us by donating!!!

You can still donate to our Movember campaign
Movember may be over but you can still make donations to our Movember Account.

Every little bit helps - lets give it a decent ending nudge please!
It is all about family at the end of the day. Lets stop men dying too young.
Lets not get all negative Nancy about this topic but at the heart of the matter is the wee fact that Kiwi Men generally are really really terrible at getting to the doctor and getting checked up.
These days we are all too busy.
A few generations ago it was because "she'll be right mate". There is always an excuse.
This MOVEMBER we are wanting to make a change as much as we can in our small way, by having a conversation as much as possible about why we are doing MOVEMBER as an organisation, but also as individuals. For some it is about mates, for others their parents, and for others like David from the Media Dept it's all about the kids. In a rare move David steps infront of the camera to vtalk about what is important to him.
Another video at the end of Movember Foundation New Zealand for the month and this time a message from the media team about the importance of taking responsibility & getting checks done. It's all for family at the end of the day. #bowaters #movember #family

Ross Prangnell from Bowater Hyundai on making a difference.
Supporting the community is more than just donating a cheque here and there when asked. It is all about turning up and actually making a difference. Getting stuck in, rolling up your collective sleeves and doing the hard yards.
This is what MOVEMBER to some degree represents. It is a great idea at the time, and it seems easy as. By the 3rd week there are some new feelings of itchiness accompanied by gentle ribbing from friends and family. At the end of it all though it is all about participating and doing your bit.
Ross Prangnell has just joined the team at Bowater Hyundai as General Sales Manager and was keen as mustard to get behind the 2016 MOVEMBER effort. And as he details in this video, there is more to it than just a funny moustache!
Well that's Movember Foundation New Zealand done and dusted for 2016. Ross the new general sales manager at Bowater Hyundai has this reflection on the importance of taking part. #community #nelson #movember
