Living at the top of the South Island is quite a treat. There are no two ways about it, it is amazing. The sunshine capital of NZ and one of the places that New Zealander's, and the rest of the world for that matter, love to visit.
Not only do we have access to some of the best scenery in the world, but, if you are that way inclined, you also have quite easy access to the wild animals that inhabit all of these amazing expanses of the great outdoors.
Of course you are going to need quite the vehicle to get you, your gear and your dogs out and about way out the back. It seems that locally that vehicle of choice is the unbreakable, cyclone riding, boar bulldozing Toyota Hilux.....of any vintage!
Last weekend Bowater Toyota went along to the 2nd Annual Wakefield Hotel Boar & Stag Hunt. With a carpark full to overflowing with Toyota Hilux's we thought it only fair we stick our nose in and chat to those that use our trucks like they were designed to be used - out in the back blocks going hard out.
We also organised some Top To Bottom Puffer Jackets for the major prize winners, a few bevvies and a $500 Fuel Voucher as a prize draw for one lucky punter in the crowd on the night.
We took lots of photos (scroll down or "continue reading" to see the gallery), chatted to lots of hunters and their mates, and gave away quite a bit of gear.

Honda NZ approaches half a million trees planted
Honda staff and customers will unite on Friday (8 June) to help ‘green up’ Duder Regional Park, officially marking the start of the 2012 Honda TreeFund planting season.
Around 50 staff and customers will adorn gumboots and gloves to plant between 2,000 and 3,000 native New Zealand trees on the south coast of Duder Regional Park in South East Auckland. The team will be joined by a special celebrity volunteer, Almighty Johnsons star, Jared Turner. Jared, who is a big environmental supporter and host of the ‘Energy Spot’ energy saving commercials, will work alongside the group for the afternoon.
The day is significant as it takes Honda a step closer to realising a significant TreeFund milestone. Through TreeFund, Honda is now officially responsible for the accumulated funding of 487,175 native trees.
Local dentist caps off a great challenge
Local Motueka dentist Richard Lewis from Pienaar Dental Centre came by to take the Prius Challenge at Bowater Toyota in Motueka and also took one of the top spots on the Leader Board!
Richard loved taking the challenge so much he is considering coming back this week to see if he can better his current eco score and hit Number 1!
