Nathan Fa'avae and Godzone. An adventurer's race.

I’d sum up the 3rd Godzone race as “A classic Kiwi Adventure Race, roast lamb and spuds, no artificial ingredients” A big mountain, big landscape and a big river, very few checkpoints, go for your life. Every stage was unique and the variety of terrain the course covered was about as diverse as one could expect in a race.

After a few disappointing performances in 2013 our team was eager to start the year with a solid performance and welcome Stu Lynch into the team in a positive way.
For me personally, the Godzone crept up quickly and I had some concerns going into the race regarding my fitness. I had a kite boarding accident over Christmas which knocked out nearly all of January nursing an injury. By February I needed to train promptly and decided the Kiwi Brevet bike endurance ride would be a good launch pad to Godzone.

Next Tuesday evening, the 25th March, Bowater Honda are hosting the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce BNZ Partners After 5 meeting. If you are a business owner in the region this is the kind of networking you need to be involved in. A quiet yet professional forum where you can get to know other business owners in a relaxed atmosphere whilst enjoying some of our hospitality and the ambience of our new showroom in Achilles Ave.

You will be treated to some great opportunites to meet other business people that you might not ordinarily encounter on your daily activites, and be treated to some thought provoking short speeches that will hopefully enlighten and inspire.

Part of the evening will be based around a conversation regarding the exciting developments at the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary, one of the many fantastic local community projects that the Bowater Motor Group lends a helping hand too.

Thursday the 27th February 2014 was a very significant evening for Bowater Honda. It was on this wondefully fine night we held the opening event for the newly refurbished showroom on Achilles Ave that we are so very proud of.

What surprised and delighted us was the amazing turnout by locals to attend this event. In all between 225 - 250 people came along to show their support, enjoy our hospitality and get a wee surprise themselves. We were very lucky have Murray Selby along, he is the Executive General Manager of Honda New Zealand and he bought with him a very special treat. Bowater Honda was the first Honda showroom in New Zealand to unveil the fantastic new assessment vehicle, the Honda N One - a jazzy wee urban car that is both very fuel efficient and also very very stylish, roomy and technologically advanced.

We were a little surprised ourselves by the almost overwhelming numbers of locals that turned up to show their support for our newly relocated showroom. The line stretched right out the door and snaked along the footpath at one stage! Apologies to any that had to wait in the late afternoon sun a little too long.

Supporting the Brook Sanctuary

The Brook Sanctuary is returning nature to the Nelson Region. They are undertaking a very ambitious and visionary project, and amongst other very important projects they are currently working on raising funds to place a 14km predator-proof fence that will create a 700ha native wildlife experience close to Nelson’s city centre.

The Bowater Motor Group are right behind them on this project, and we have injected our own support during the initial public fundraising phase of the project by enabling them to have a campaign office downtown in the heart of Nelson.
