We reach the end of a wonderful project with a final cheque presentation to the Cancer Society Nelson

Alison McAlpine, chair of Cancer Society Nelson and Linda Lucre (Centre Manager) receiving the cheque from the sale of the BMG Mini Trailer from Tony Bowater.

We recently had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for $1590 to the Cancer Society Nelson as the final stage of the BMG Mini for Nelson Cancer.

This cheque arose from the selling of the custom built trailer that the BMG Mini was carted around on in the promotional phase of the project.

This bought the massive project to an end for us as major sponsors of what has to be regarded as a wonderfully successful fund raising campaign. Overall the very hard working Caffeine Crew team from Wakefield, led by ex-mechanic Bob Croy, has raised over $110,000 for the region.

The Bowater Motor Group has been an instrumental part of this entire project, supplying free of charge all of the parts needed to completely rebuild the 1975 Mini from the ground up. The Parts Department of Bowater Toyota, led by Kieron Reilly, had quite a task sourcing some of these parts, but came through each and every time sourcing sometimes hard to find parts through their extensive network of contacts and associates.

After close to 2 years of hard work, and alot of blood, sweat and tears by all involved with this very ambitious project, the Bowater's team were proud to round off the project with the final donation handover to the representatives of Cancer Society Nelson.

Bowater Honda gets behind Cawthron's drive to educate our community

140707-cawthron1Bowater Honda CEO Chris Bowater, Cawthron Institute Community Educator Jo Thompson and Bowater Honda Sales Manager Nick D'Evereux.

Bowater Honda, and the wider Bowater Motor Group in general, are very passionate about supporting our community.

The easiest way we can make this happen from our perspective is to help provide transport solutions to these organisations. A key part of any community education programme is actually getting in amongst the community and delivering educational resource and conversation where the community actually is.

Bowater Honda recently delivered a multi purpose Honda CR-V to Jo Thompson, the Community Educator for the prestgious Cawthron Institute. Bowater's are not only commited to supporting community groups, but also those in the community such as Cawthrons, delivering invaluable and positive interactions with all aspects of the community, and in particular the youth of our district.

Back in February 2011 the Cawthron Institute saw the need to support schools and the wider community in general, at events such as open days, and talks all across the top of the south. They established the Community Educator role to fill that void, and began to connect their research and scientists with the wider community, and looked to support existing science programmes in our region. and especially begin to actively engage with groups such as the local schools.

Cawthron's community education programme was established in 2011 to connect our research and scientists with the wider community, and to support existing science programmes in our region.

Bowater Honda came onboard at that initial early stage, sponsoring the institute with a Honda Civic. Now almost 3.5 years later, the Cawthron Institute are now receiving a remarkably functional and multi purposed Honda CR-V to replace the Honda Civic as this exciting programme expands and is increasingly utilised. They have been doing alot of work in schools, going in and running teacher training workshops, helping school science departments experience state of the art, up to the minute science at an easy to access level.

some kind words from a grateful customer.

It is always so nice to hear positive feedback from customers on the great experience they have had with any one of our busy departments across the region. Good news is good news, and it restores faith in our collective experience and cultural narrative - so when stories like this come to light they are to be celebrated!

Dave Cox from Kapiti had some mechanical issues whilst here on holiday, and was so impressed with how the team at Bowater Toyota handled the whole event that he wrote to tell us.

Not wanting to blow our own trumpets (cue the Al Mapperley Trumpet solo) but we in the media department here at Bowaters feel that this kind of niceness from our valued customers needs to see the light of day.
