The Prius C fits right in at Cherry Blossom festival
Yesterday in Nelson, at the Miyazu Japanese Garden's, the annual spring Cherry Blossom festival was held. It seemed like the perfect fit for our "flower power" car, the all new 2012 Toyota Prius C.
We took the car along early so we could get a great park right outside the festival so that as many Nelsonians could see this wonderful car as possible!
It is a big week for the Flower Power Prius C - it is off on a road trip with the Nelson Prius Challenge winner Nick Marer and his family over the first week of the school holidays.
The 2012 Miyazu Cherry Blossom Festival was a stunner as usual, with a great turnout from both the locals and the famous Nelson sunshine.
Toyota to tow Space Shuttle in the USA
Toyota is set to “go boldy” as one of its pickup trucks has been chosen to tow the Space Shuttle Endeavour to its final resting place at the California Science Center on October 13, 2012.
Endeavour will be flown to California on the back of a specially adapted Boeing 747, before it travels 12 miles from Los Angeles International Airport to the city’s Science Centre.
The US built and sold Tundra will tow the orbiter for the last leg of this journey. The space plane, which weighs 78,000kgs, will be mounted on a special trailer, shown below.
The car used to tow will be identical to models currently found in Toyota’s American dealerships, with no additional modifications made to increase towing capacity or generate more power.
Bowater's 86 TRD Project. Safety First. New feet.
With our new Toyota 86 demo car safely tucked away in the showroom and looking all shiny and new, we thought we would make our own unofficial TRD version by adding a whole lot of official TRD (Toyota Racing Development) parts to our 86.
We have done this for a couple of reasons. Firstly because this car is so cool it just deserves to have the best we can give it. Secondly it allows us to showcase what our mechanics and the entire Bowater Toyota Parts and Service department can do for you and your car. Not only can we source some amazing parts and after market accessories, but we can fit them for you properly as well, saving you the headache as we have done it all before!
Stage 1: Brake Upgrades.
We thought this was the obvious place to start. We are not race drivers, but we do love to drive. Safety first. Lets get some monster brakes on this beast to slow us down in a hurry if need be in the event we overcook something.
The TRD Brake Kit is very impressive, and at $12,750 it is a very worthwhile upgrade when you see the differences in the photo below.
The vented brake dsic of the TRD set is massive compared to the standard 86 supplied brakes.
