Ever since our humble beginnings in downtown Nelson in 1945 the Bowater Motor Group has been very focused on community involvement. We believe that you are only ever as successful as the support that you can give back. It is with this philosophy that we continue to be as involved as we can be in the wider Nelson / Tasman community.
This section of the website houses stories, links and content from a collective of organisations and events that we are involved with or support through sponsorship or partnerships.
The menu to the right has got comprehensive articles from those events, organisations and charities that we regularly involved with, click on the menu items to read more, or scroll down this page to keep up with events as they unfold.
If you think you have an event, organisation or group that would benefit from our community interest feel free to contact us.

Show your Nelson backyard some love this Conservation Week
People are invited to an Our Place: Our Nature family event with fun activities in Nelson on Saturday 28 October being held to celebrate Conservation Week.
The event showcases the special places and amazing wildlife in our backyard and it's on from 10am to 2pm at Branford Park in the Maitai Valley.
There will be exciting activities for all ages including making your own predator tracking tunnel, having a go at flax weaving, a scavenger hunt, giant outdoor board games, discovering what freshwater critters live in the Maitai River and adventure games for the under 5s.
It will also be a chance to explore a new Toyota Kiwi Guardians adventure site for kids on the Branford Park Edible Walk. Kids can complete conservation activities at the site and earn a Toyota Kiwi Guardians Medal.
Adventure awaits on the Great Taste Trail on Sunday
Sunday 15th October is a great chance to get your children into the Kiwi Guardians programme.
This is a wonderful partnership between the Department of Conservation (DoC) and Toyota New Zealand. On a local level the team at Bowater Toyota are right behind it and are happily driving the programme right here in the Top of the South.
A few months ago the Department of Conservation launched two new Kiwi Guardian Trails in the region, one at Sandeman Reserve on the Great Taste Bike Trail just west of Richmond, and another at Jimmy Lee Creek in the Richmond Foothills. Sunday 15th October is a great opportunity on the last weekend of the school holidays to come along and enjoy some fun activities as well as checking out the Kiwi Guardians Trail, and gaining the right to claim a Kiwi Guardians Medal.
