Up close with a massive trophy. Chris Bowater gets his hands on the Cricket World Cup.
Today Bowater Hyundai CEO Chris Bowater got to get very close to the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy - the actual 25kg World Cup in all of it's gold and silver glory.
The trophy is doing a tour of the country ahead of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup Tournament which gets underway this summer, with the first games swinging into action on Feb 14th 2015. Nelson is very lucky to also be a part of this global event, with the first of 3 games being played in Nelson starting on the 16th February.
Bowater Hyundai are super excited to be a part of the action and have partnered up with the Nelson City Council to make sure everyone locally is as excited as we all are. It is a great opportunity to get involved with an internationally watched tournament, with some statistics stating that a billion people will be watching!
Bowater Hyundai is proud to be a driving force behind the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup games in Nelson.

The ICC Cricket World Cup is one of the world's largest, and most watched global sports events. Quite frankly it is massive, and a massive honour for Nelson to be involved in it, let alone host teams and have 3 games to go and see. Set aside some time now people - this is a great opportunity to see actual world class cricket in our own backyard!
Hyundai internationally are a global partner with the International Cricket Council (The I.C.C.), as well as the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, so naturally this means that the team at Bowater Hyundai have the opportunity to be involved as well. We are very proud to be working together and partnered with the Nelson City Council on this event as it is going to bring so much attention in to our region. Watch this space as we get closer to the tournament, we have some exciting plans tucked away to wow you all with.
The Nelson City Council are very excited about the upcoming tournament as it gives them a chance to showcase the region to a huge global audience during our traditional blisteringly hot, clear and calm February days - the chance to show everyone what a great place Nelson and Tasman are to live in, as well as to visit on holiday!
As a part of the partnership we are working with, we recently had the opportunity to present the Nelson City Council representative, Deputy Mayor Paul Matheson, with the council's new signwritten Hyundai i20 in our central Nelson showroom on the corner of Rutherford and Hardy Streets.
The vehicle is to join their fleet and primarly be used by their community services group manager. They chose the Hyundai i20 GL for it's great mix of fuel efficiency and safety features.
Kiwi legend Sharon O'Neill comes home with a dragon but can't do without her Jazz
Rock icon Sharon O'Neill picking up her Honda Jazz at Bowater Honda with sales manager Nick D'Evereux.
Nelson has had a few musical claims to fame over the last couple of decades but they all pale in comparison to kiwi icon, and ex Nelsonian, music superstar Sharon O'Neill.
Today the team at Bowater Honda had the opportunity to share some time with Sharon and her partner Alan Mansfield (also a world class musician in his own right) as we helped them out, and got them into a Honda Jazz for the week they are back in town for Sharon's concert at the Rutherford Hotel this weekend.
Sharon and Alan love the Honda Jazz they have back in Sydney. Like really love it. Sharon raves about the magic seats, the nimble nature of the car on the street's of a big city, and the ability to pack it full of music gear and zip around from place to place. These days both Sharon and Alan nearly always work together, and as they move two keyboards in cases, the stands and stools, they can just "break that sucker down" (her words) and fit it all in. It is even "Rock' n' Roll Black" (her words). They are both big fans of Honda's and have a long list of vehicles that Alan duely rattles off.
When we heard this little fact on the grapevine we got in touch with Sharon and offered her and Alan a Honda Jazz to zip around in. What else do you do when rockstar royalty such as this comes to town. Well there was a little more we could do as it turns out.
Hyundai Genesis receives highest safety score in ANCAP history, and it is on it's way here!
Genesis, Hyundai New Zealand’s new flagship luxury sedan, has achieved the highest score in the 21-year history of ANCAP testing – 36.88 points out of a possible 37 and a maximum 5 star ANCAP safety rating.
A 5 star safety rating is ANCAP’s ultimate measure of vehicle safety protection for occupants and pedestrians. The demanding assessment includes a 64km/h frontal offset test and a 50km/h side impact test, along with a 29km/h pole test, a whiplash test simulating a 32km/h rear-end crash, and a 40km/h pedestrian impact protection test. A minimum number of active safety assist technologies (SATs) is also required.
The Genesis’ tally of 36.88 points includes a frontal offset score of 15.88 out of 16 and a side impact protection score of 16 out of 16. Genesis also scored 2 out of 2 in the pole test and a whiplash protection test rating of ‘good’.
Structural integrity and strength has been a key priority of Hyundai Motor Company’s engineering teams since development of the new ‘DH’ model Genesis sedan began six years ago. The vehicle uses advanced high-strength steel throughout its body structure, and has been designed from the outset to pass the world’s most demanding crash tests.
